This brooch inspired by Klimt represents Death. Gustav Klimt painted “Death and Life” in 1910. This painting is made up of people of all generations: from the toddler to the aging woman, all ages are represented. The eyes of the characters representing Life are closed, their postures are peaceful and relaxed. They seem to be unaware of the danger of death. The Grim Reaper, which symbolizes Death, looks at life with a smile. Klimt emphasized the difference between life and death by dressing his Life in colorful fabrics and joyful patterns. In contrast, death carries a layer of dark colors and dark symbols. Gustav Klimt described this painting as his most important figurative work.
